About G8 Fire

The market place for Fixed Extinguishing changed in the UK after the year 2000. This was caused mainly by the hope of the large re-sale of systems on the back of the world Halon ban in 2003. Significant market mergers and closures of accessible Extinguishing Companies within the fire industry changed the rules of engagement. The buy outs emerged, as expected, in the favour of the larger conglomerate companies who sought to control the market place by size. Such movement of once readily available product and services hit hard the smaller Fire Companies, to whom have always dealt in Fixed Extinguishing, but then experienced clashes of direct competition on many projects and sites. These changes caused trade routes to become difficult, political or too costly. The general fire trade had little choice in a real cost effective route to market for competitive products and furthermore a lack of a trusted partner in the form of a specialist company who could act with competence for them, and not comprise their own marketplace. It is generally agreed, unless very experienced, most aspects of fixed extinguishing, when dealing with the many variants installed, is an art form to get it right without compromising safety and the systems ability.

Kevin Cooper with many years of such experience in Fixed Extinguishing and an ex employee of Kidde / FPS / SPI Fire Engineering, was approached by many in the fire industry with the problem, and in November 2004 the opportunity was seized, and G8 Fire Solutions was formed.

Taking on board the past experiences and understanding the pitfalls, G8 Fire to date have set about and have created a close efficient team who have a collective experience of 70 years in this field.
